Places and Faces in Louisiana: Past and Present
Here are some places I've been in my home state of Louisiana. More places are on the way.

Melrose: Step back into time...
The Melrose Plantation, long ago known as Yucca Plantation, is located in Natchitoches Parish.

Magnolia Plantation: This large, three-story house shares the property with ancient oaks.
Their aged limbs reach the ground, then grow upward. You can no longer tour the house, but much of the grounds are open, and of historical interest.

Kate Chopin House:
I must sadly tell you that the Kate Chopin house burned down. I am leaving this link up as a memoir of my visit.

Natchitoches: Historic District
It's right off I-49. The oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase is worth a stop.

Kisatchie National Forest
In the middle of Louisiana, I found buttes and bluffs, and a few scenic overlooks.
