The first things I noticed
about Magnolia
Plantation were the huge old oak trees. I believe the lady of
the
house told me that the oaks were 150 years old, but they look much
older. The huge, knarled limbs grow to the ground and bounce back into
the air. It's enchanting.
The
tour is mostly
indoors. In addition, you are taken out on the porch, to walk
along the back wing. The porch is long, and runs along the
back
of the house, down the side of the wing, and around the
corner.
There is a small chapel in this back wing. While standing on
this
porch, I looked up at a chimney, high above me. I then
realized
that this house is huge. As we stood on the porch, we were already quite
high, and the chimney was far
above us.
